Always wondered why our favorite Youtube channels talk about having videos ready but won't be up for a few hours.
Trying to upload a 636 MB video. Been waiting a while.

Bet the upload speed is throttled.

My 8 minute video took a solid 4 hours to upload last week.

I'm on Timewarner. If by throttled you mean always as slow as balls, then yes, yes it is.

I know that feeling all too well.

I meant on You Tube's end. 194K TB of video uploaded/day + who-knows-how-many mirrors copypasta-ing everything to spread out the bandwidth (Google has millions of servers, no way to know how many are for YouTube) = slow ass uploads for everyone. I be even people who have Google fiber would get throttled still, given the sheer infrastructure involved.

You know, I doubt google is throttling anyone short of top end users like Google Fiber users. Look at how many people are still on Cable and ( shudder) DSL. The best upload I know of on cable ISP's is 5Mbps which is still ancient compared to even some of the cheapest fiber plans.

Not everyone's connections, just the uploads to Youtube. Every major youtuber has said something about slow upload times, and not everyone has the same internet connections, ergo, they must be throttling the uploads to their servers.

They probably are throttling Fiber ISP's but they could let Cable ISP's go hogwild and they probably still wouldn't touch throttled Fiber ISP's. Most of the people I've seen complain have referenced having low upload speeds on par with Cable or DSL
